Liz Squillace@Stone Soup

March 27, 2009

stone-soup-0332Liz arrived with several screens, tshirts and paper for printing out the images.  She worked all day and gave away shirts and posters to admiring kids.  Everyone loved watching her make magic.  This was hugely successful and enjoyed by all who stopped by our booth.  Hundreds of people attended this six hour event last Saturday.  We hope they do it again next year!

What a day! We had no idea that this first time ever event would be such a success. People just came coming all day.  We were one of 70 demos and workshops going on all day long.  Liz S. silkscreened from 9am to 3pm.  Hundreds of people, mostly families walked through and stopped by our tables and art exhibit, including the superintendent of schools.  Definitely worth the effort for next year, too.

LAA Draws! Top Notch Exhibit

March 19, 2009

Mayor Dan MalloyI’m not the only one who thinks that the current exhibit in the LAA Gallery is one of the best to date.  Vivien White, former board member from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, went out of her way to call me after she saw the show.  She has followed our journey for these past thirty years and thinks this is the best group exhibt to date.  Dennis Bradbury, director of 22 Haviland Street Gallery and former LAA member, attended the reception and also stopped by this week with a friend aIso thought this was a fantastic exhibit. I  think working to a theme, with size and framing restrictions really helped give this show a totally unique and professional look.  The work was interesting, diverse and elegantly presented.  I can’t wait to work on the upcoming group photo exhibit, Far Places and Spaces. Congratulations to all and especially to Lisa Hillman for her sale.

New Sign at LAA

Our schedule is now posted outside the building!

Our schedule is now posted outside the building!

It took a while but we finally got out weatherproof sign hung next to the door on the outside of the building. Ed Esposito hung it masterfully and Lisa Cuscuna did a great job creating the insert which lists the entire schedule for the 2009 season.
